Kathleen Lindsey
is a 1975 graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts in Acting. She also trained in London, England and
performed Lucy Locket in The Beggar’s Opera at the Arts Theatre in London’s West End. Upon graduation she worked at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C, performing with stars such as Dianne Wiest,
Robert Prosky and Edward Hermann. In NYC, Ms Lindsey appeared in numerous Off-
Broadway and cabaret productions as well as daytime serials.
She was a founding member of the
2nd Company at Circle Rep, creating the role of Brenda in a new play, American Options. She starred as Carol in Michael Weller’s Split at the Chelsea Westside, which was the production
that first obtained the Equity Showcase Code. Beginning
in 1982, she produced two shows Off-Broadway followed by The News on Broadway, which was nominated for a Tony in 1985. She further produced The News at the Paramount Theatre in London’s West
End.
Most
recently Ms. Lindsey directed the national phenomena Menopause The Musical through it’s first 4 productions including
Off-Broadway in New York to sell out crowds.
Locally, she has directed for the Playfest at the Orlando Shakespeare Center
and for the Women Playwrights’ Initiative at the Orlando Repetory Theatre. Since moving to Orlando in 1988 to raise
her son, Christian, Ms. Lindsey has been a professor for 18 years in acting, voice and diction and Shakespeare.
Additionally, she produced and hosted a radio talk show in Orlando for two-and-a-half
years which won national awards in Broadcast Journalism and Community Service. Her
first book, Touching the Halo, was published in March 2001.
