2007 Doug Jones Experience

A student at L.A. Acting during the 1980s, Jones worked with Phillip Karr before moving to Hollywood.

It was a pleasure having Doug Jones in our Actor's Forum on the Backstage Tour in February 2007. He has done some amazing work in California.

Jones has performed in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Pan's Labrynth, Hellboy, Hellboy II, Men in Black, Men in Black II, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Stuck on You, and more.

Lyle Moon has taught acting and improvisation in the United States, Canada and New Zealand for more than 26 years. Originally from Canada, Moon was the artistic director for the Vancouver Theatresports League, one of the most successful improvisational companies in North America. He is currently a show director at Universal Orlando Resort.
Moon will instruct The Working Film Actor, Level I, class.

John DiDonna earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina.

DiDonna has worked professionally as an actor, director, playwright and producer for more than 22 years. His course at L.A. Acting Workshop is titled The Working Film Actor, Level II, Showcase and Performance.

L.A. Acting Workshop and John Didonna is offering an opportunity for local talent to audition live for Central Florida’s top industry professionals.
Onstage-Orlando provides actors intimate audition showcases throughout the year, while giving top entertainment-industry professionals a chance to see what talent Central Florida has to offer.
Participants are coached weekly for three months in preparation of the showcases, all while incorporating the idea that a strong local résumé is an important tool for actors looking to build their careers.

Amy Allen, director of L.A. Acting Workshop, announced the addition of John DiDonna as an instructor for the company’s advanced acting workshop.

DiDonna is a theater veteran who currently teaches at numerous colleges and theaters in the Central Florida area.

His class, which places a strong emphasis on analysis, cold reading, audition skills, and on-camera essentials, meets Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

L.A. Acting Workshop enjoyed a special evening when Ian Young, talent coordinator for the new Star Search hosted by Arsenio Hall, visited L.A. Acting’s Talent Showcase. During the event, more than 70 people auditioned for Star Search and Outlook Orlando Talent and Modeling Agency. Students performed both dramatic monologues and songs in hopes of securing an opportunity to advance their careers. The new Star Search, filming in Los Angeles, offers $100,000 as its grand prize.

Philip Karr, a 35-year veteran of talent management, spearheads The Actor’s Co-op, a small group of well-trained professional actors. L.A. Acting Workshop, in association with Solitaire Entertainment Inc., opened registration for The Backstage Tour. The original behind-the-scenes tour of the working entertainment industry in Los Angeles gives actors the opportunity to meet professionals and learn more about developing a real and successful acting career. Most actors living in Los Angeles today are not represented and find it difficult to even get an appointment with an agent. Many travel there unprepared to compete with the enormous pool of actors.

The highlight of The Backstage Tour is the opportunity for the attendees to audition for industry professionals, one-on-one, in a professional setting. Additionally, workshops and seminars with Hollywood managers, agents and casting directors allow participants to gain valuable information about the television and film industry. Actors also experience actual TV-show tapings, studio tours, back lots, invitational film screenings at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and more.
